As more of our world comes back to our awareness, as it makes itself known to us again, the Master Plant Allies — Ayahuasca, Cacao, Iboga, Mushrooms, and others — receive a lot of deserved shine.
It brought me to a simple moment of recognition this morning.
The elements: Water, Fire, Earth, and Air are the masters of the masters.
Without them, there are no master plants.
Water gives life so that plants can be. Fire gives life and takes life so that cycles can be. Air provides the space and the exchange for the masters to be masters. Earth. The earth.
We miss this, the elemental, the foundational layer we are always already working inside of.
Not as concept, but as relationship, as the living systems that hold everything we call medicine.
The practice is as simple and as hard as this: before you reach for the plant, greet the water, feel the ground beneath you, let the air in, and notice the fire in your own body.
Return to what the medicine returns to first.
because without them, there are no master plants.
Water that gives life, so that plants can be.
Fire that gives life and takes life so that cycles can be…
the air, which provides the space and the exchange for the masters to be masters,
the Earth, the earth.
You know, we miss this—the elemental, the foundational thing we work with inside of.
